SA Rugby says it will undertake a comprehensive review of its ticketing strategy following widespread criticism from supporters over the cost of match tickets during the 2026 season.
The decision comes after the governing body was forced to reduce ticket prices for the Springboks' opening Test of the year against England at Ellis Park due to sluggish ticket sales.
In a statement released on Monday, SA Rugby confirmed that it will assess its pricing model ahead of the 2027 season to ensure it better meets the expectations of supporters.
SA Rugby president Mark Alexander acknowledged that certain ticket categories warrant closer examination as part of the review.
He, however, dismissed claims that the organisation had set ticket prices with the intention of maximising profits, maintaining that the pricing strategy was not driven by financial gain.
The review is expected to consider the affordability of tickets while balancing the costs of hosting international rugby matches and ensuring fans have greater access to Springbok fixtures.
