The Musina Repatriation Centre in Limpopo is continuing to receive a steady stream of undocumented migrants, with long queues forming daily as officials verify identities and process new arrivals.

Migrants from across South Africa are being transported to the facility, placing increasing pressure on processing operations. Humanitarian organisations have also been deployed to provide food and other essential assistance to those awaiting processing.

Home Affairs Chief Director at the Musina Repatriation Centre, Albert Matsaung, said the number of people arriving at the facility consistently exceeds 1,000.

"You will never have anything that is less than a thousand. It will be 1,000, 2,000 or even 3,000 people. They are being dropped off by buses that come from all nine provinces," Matsaung said.

He added that some undocumented migrants are still being accommodated at temporary sites within various municipalities while arrangements are made for their repatriation.

"There are areas within municipalities where people are camping. Once information is received, the relevant embassies are informed, and after that they arrange transportation. Home Affairs then comes on board to ensure that everyone is properly profiled before the process continues," he said.

Officials say profiling remains a key part of the repatriation process, while coordination with foreign embassies continues to facilitate the return of undocumented migrants to their countries of origin.

The Musina Repatriation Centre remains one of the country's primary facilities for processing undocumented migrants ahead of deportation.
