City Power customers will be paying more for electricity following the implementation of new tariff increases for the 2026/27 financial year.
The increases come after the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) approved an annual tariff adjustment of 8.76% for Eskom.
However, City Power said it has implemented a slightly lower average tariff increase of 8.63% in an effort to lessen the financial impact on its customers amid rising electricity costs.
The utility said the adjusted tariff is intended to balance the need to maintain and improve electricity infrastructure while providing some relief to households and businesses facing ongoing cost-of-living pressures.
Meanwhile, NERSA has approved tariff increase applications for 176 municipalities and local authorities across the country for the 2026/27 financial year.
The approved adjustments mean that electricity consumers supplied by municipalities, including City Power, can expect higher electricity bills as the new tariffs come into effect.
Customers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the revised tariff structures and adjust their electricity usage where possible to help manage the increased costs.
