The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has confirmed that one person was killed and 11 others were injured in a bus crash on the N1 near the Beitbridge Border Post on Tuesday.
The accident occurred approximately four kilometres south of the border post near Musina and involved a bus transporting individuals from KwaZulu-Natal to the Beitbridge Repatriation Centre.
According to preliminary reports, the driver allegedly lost control of the bus after becoming fatigued, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver died at the scene, while 11 passengers sustained injuries. The injured were transported to Musina Hospital for medical treatment.
Emergency medical services, law enforcement officers and traffic officials responded to the scene and remain on site to manage the incident and assist those affected.
The department said the N1 remains open to traffic, although temporary lane closures may be implemented to allow forensic investigators to carry out their work safely.
Motorists travelling through the area have been urged to exercise caution, reduce speed, maintain a safe following distance and follow the directions of traffic officials while emergency operations continue.
Authorities said investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
