Organisers of the planned 30 June demonstrations say their primary objective is to call on government to enforce existing immigration laws, while insisting that the protests will remain peaceful and lawful.

The assurances come as authorities ramp up preparations for the demonstrations, with extensive planning and coordination taking place at national, provincial and local levels to ensure public safety and maintain order.

Speaking ahead of the planned action, Faith Mabusela of the Put South Africa First said the demonstrations are intended to promote accountability and respect for the rule of law rather than incite violence or unrest.

"We are not calling for violence, but for government and the business sector to respect the law. It is that simple," Mabusela said.

She further sought to reassure the public that organisers do not support criminal activity.

"No one will be violated, no one will be killed on the 30th of June, and no looting will take place in our name," she said.

Government has indicated that efforts to maintain law and order during the demonstrations could cost as much as R600 million, reflecting the scale of security operations being put in place.

Meanwhile, the private security industry has pledged its support to law enforcement agencies ahead of the planned demonstrations against undocumented migrants.

Acting National Police Commissioner Puleng Dimpane said cooperation between private security companies and the South African Police Service (SAPS) would assist in ensuring a coordinated response to any incidents that may arise.

Acting Police Minister Firoz Cachalia has also reiterated that authorities are fully prepared for the planned demonstrations and remain committed to safeguarding public safety.

Cachalia emphasised that while South Africans have a constitutional right to protest, there would be no tolerance for criminal conduct, violence or intimidation.

Law enforcement agencies across the country remain on high alert as the 30 June demonstrations approach, with authorities urging all participants to exercise their rights peacefully and within the confines of the law.
