The Ombudsman for the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) has launched an investigation into allegations of abuse of power within the institution.
The probe follows a complaint lodged by Crime Intelligence head Dumisani Khumalo and Nozipho Madondo, who raised concerns over an attempted arrest against them last week.
The pair escalated their complaint to Justice Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi and National Director of Public Prosecutions Andy Mothibi, seeking intervention over the matter.
This comes after the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) confirmed that arrest warrants had been issued for Khumalo and Madondo in connection with allegations of fraud and corruption.
The Ombudsman is now expected to assess whether proper procedures were followed and whether any abuse of authority occurred during the course of the investigation.
