KwaZulu-Natal police have opened two cases of attempted murder following a shooting incident on Durban’s beachfront on Saturday.
The shooting allegedly occurred after an argument broke out on Snell Parade between a man and a woman believed to be in a relationship.
According to police, the man allegedly assaulted the woman during the altercation.
Authorities say a passerby who attempted to intervene and calm the situation was also allegedly assaulted.
Police spokesperson Paul Magwaza said the woman managed to flee toward the beach during the confrontation.
“The man went to his car, returned with a firearm and fired shots towards the fleeing female as well as the male who tried to defuse the fight,” Magwaza said.
The male victim sustained an injury to his foot during the shooting.
Police confirmed that no arrests have been made at this stage and investigations into the incident are continuing.
