Alleged political fixer Brown Mogotsi is expected to apply for bail at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning.
Mogotsi is facing charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, discharging a firearm in a built-up area, defeating the ends of justice, and perjury.
The charges relate to allegations that he staged an attempted hit on his own life in November last year.
His bail application was postponed last week after the state requested additional time to verify his residential address.
Mogotsi was arrested on 15 May shortly after appearing before the Madlanga Commission, where he testified on allegations linked to corruption.
Athlenda Mathe said ballistic testing connected cartridge casings recovered at the alleged crime scene to other criminal cases, including armed robbery investigations.
Police are still searching for the firearm allegedly used in the incident.
However, Mogotsi’s legal representative has indicated that he does not own a firearm.
