Ministers in the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster are expected to meet with political parties, community groups and organisations involved in anti-immigration protests across South Africa later on Monday.
The discussions come amid growing demonstrations against undocumented migrants in several parts of the country.
Groups including March and March have been organising marches calling for undocumented foreign nationals to leave South Africa and return to their countries of origin.
Government says the purpose of the engagement is to establish rules governing protest action while also discussing plans to address concerns relating to undocumented migration.
The meetings are expected to focus on maintaining public order and preventing violence during demonstrations.
Meanwhile, the Ghana High Commission in Pretoria has confirmed that around 300 Ghanaian nationals living in South Africa have voluntarily presented themselves for processing ahead of planned repatriation to Ghana on Wednesday.
The repatriation process follows rising tensions between local communities and undocumented migrants in parts of the country.
Some Ghanaian nationals say they no longer feel safe following recent anti-immigration protests and threats directed at foreign nationals.
