Tensions reached a breaking point at a shared residential property in Trenance Park this past Monday, May 18, 2026, following allegations of sexual assault and a subsequent cycle of retaliatory violence.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called to the scene after a seven-year-old boy reported that he had witnessed his 13-year-old cousin allegedly forcing himself upon his 10-year-old sister. According to RUSA the boy told authorities that he attempted to intervene by slapping the teenager to stop the assault.
The situation reportedly spiraled into a series of physical confrontations involving the extended family members who live on the same property. The grandfather of the younger children later contacted RUSA headquarters, alleging that he and his grandsons had been subjected to repeated assaults in the wake of the incident.
According to the grandfather, the parents of the 10-year-old girl were enraged after learning of the allegations. He claims they physically assaulted the 13-year-old cousin at their home and allegedly followed him to his secondary school, where he was reportedly assaulted a second time in front of both students and staff. The grandfather, who claims he was attacked while attempting to protect his grandsons, produced a medical examination form (J88) as evidence of his injuries.
Despite the gravity of the allegations, RUSA reported that no formal criminal case for the alleged sexual assault had been registered at the time of the incident. Authorities are expected to investigate the initial allegations of sexual misconduct alongside the subsequent reports of physical assault.
