The African National Congress has postponed its special National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to Wednesday due to severe weather conditions affecting Cape Town.
The party’s senior leadership is expected to convene following the recent ruling by the Constitutional Court of South Africa on the Phala Phala matter.
The apex court directed Parliament to establish a committee to consider the possible impeachment of President Cyril Ramaphosa.
The ruling stems from a 2022 report compiled by an independent panel, which found that Ramaphosa may have a case to answer regarding his conduct in connection with the theft of foreign currency from his Phala Phala farm in 2020.
The President has since announced that he will seek a judicial review of the panel’s findings.
The ANC is expected to deliberate on the political and legal implications of the Constitutional Court judgment when the NEC meeting resumes.
