Two senior police officers and a civilian are expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning facing charges linked to the alleged illegal dealing and possession of precious metals.
The suspects were arrested over the weekend following an investigation into suspected illicit transactions and corruption involving precious minerals.
Athlenda Mathe, the national police spokesperson, confirmed the arrests and said they form part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks operating in the sector.
Mathe said the accused are expected to face charges that may include unlawful dealing in precious metals, defeating the ends of justice, and corruption.
She added that the operation reflects intensified law enforcement action targeting organised criminal activity linked to the illicit minerals trade and corruption within state structures.
Authorities say further investigations into the broader network are continuing.
