The trial of six men accused of the mass murder of 18 people at Ngobozana Village is set to resume at the Mthatha High Court sitting in Lusikisiki.

The court is expected to hear a statement from accused number four, Bonga Hintsa, relating to the murder of KwaBhaca businessman and ANC politician Mncedisi Gijana.

On Friday, proceedings focused on Hintsa’s statement concerning the Ngobozana massacre.

In his testimony, Hintsa alleged that he and co-accused Songezo Vuma, Aphiwe Ndende and Siphosoxolo Myekethe opened fire on the victims at the homestead.

He further claimed that they had been instructed by Vuma to kill everyone found at the property.

The matter forms part of one of the Eastern Cape’s most high-profile mass murder cases, which shocked communities in the Lusikisiki area.
