Police have intercepted a major drug shipment at the Durban Harbour, uncovering cocaine valued at approximately R13 million concealed inside a bus imported from South America.
Authorities discovered 32 blocks of cocaine hidden within the vehicle’s air-conditioning unit during the operation. Investigators believe the consignment was destined for Gauteng.
The bust was carried out by Durban Operational Response Services in collaboration with serious organised crime units, following intelligence gathered from a previous drug seizure in Gauteng. That investigation indicated that narcotics were being trafficked into the country through ports in KwaZulu-Natal.
Police have launched a manhunt for those responsible for the shipment, as well as the intended recipients. Investigations are ongoing.
