Seven people have been killed and several others injured in a crash involving a minibus taxi and a bus in Kariega.
According to Eastern Cape transport authorities, preliminary investigations indicate that the collision occurred when a fully loaded minibus taxi, transporting workers from KwaNobuhle, allegedly made a U-turn in front of an oncoming bus.
Seven occupants of the taxi, including the driver, were declared dead at the scene. Two passengers sustained critical injuries, while others suffered minor to moderate injuries.
Emergency services remain on site as rescue and recovery operations continue.
Authorities have confirmed that investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing. This is a developing story.
