A woman has been shot and killed in an early morning incident on Longacres Drive in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.
According to ALS Paramedics, emergency teams responded to the scene shortly before 7am on Monday.
Upon arrival, paramedics found members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and private security already on site, with the area cordoned off.
Paramedics were directed to a vehicle where the driver, a woman believed to be in her 50s, had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to her upper body. She was assessed on scene, but there was nothing medics could do, and she was declared dead at the scene.
No other injuries were reported.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear. Police have launched an investigation into the incident.
