KwaZulu-Natal police say they are closing in on a fourth suspect linked to last week’s mass murder of a north coast family.
Deputy Police Commissioner for Crime Prevention Anthony Gopaul confirmed that a dedicated team has been deployed to track down the outstanding suspect.
“As far as the outstanding suspect is concerned, we are aware of who the suspect is, and a team is actively working towards making an arrest,” Gopaul said.
He was speaking at the KwaDukuza Magistrates’ Court, where three accused appeared earlier this week.
The suspects, all in their 20s, are linked to the kidnapping and murder of Allen and Sandy Monswamy, their two children, and three elderly relatives in a case that has sent shockwaves through the community.
Gopaul said a specialised investigation team has been assembled, bringing together experts in kidnapping, house robbery, and serious violent crimes, supported by forensic specialists.
“This is not about the number of officers, but about having the right expertise for the task. The combination of specialised skills has been effective in advancing the investigation,” he said.
Police say efforts to apprehend the remaining suspect are ongoing.
