A 54-year-old pastor accused of raping two children is expected to apply for bail at the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The accused, who cannot be named to protect the identities of the minors, was arrested in January in Limpopo following allegations that he raped two children in the area.
He is also facing an additional charge of sexual assault involving a minor in a separate case before the Seshego Magistrate’s Court.
During proceedings in the Seshego court on Thursday, it was alleged that the pastor sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl who had been living with him and his family between 2023 and 2025. The court heard that the accused allegedly touched the child inappropriately.
The investigating officer in that matter, Ishmael Matjeka, is opposing bail, arguing that the accused poses a flight risk. The court was told that the pastor has ties outside the country, including another church branch in Botswana.
The bail application is expected to proceed as investigations continue.
