Direct customers of Eskom will begin paying more for electricity from Wednesday, following the implementation of new tariffs for the 2026/27 financial year.
The utility has introduced an 8.7% tariff increase after approval by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa earlier this month.
Eskom says the adjustment is necessary to support the provision of a stable and reliable electricity supply.
Meanwhile, customers who receive electricity through municipalities are expected to feel the impact of the increase from July.
