The Western Cape Education Department has called on parents who have not yet applied for Grade 8 school placements for the 2027 academic year to submit their applications urgently, warning that the deadline is fast approaching.
The department says around 28,000 parents of current Grade 7 learners have not yet completed applications, despite only two weeks remaining in the admissions window.
The on-time admissions period is set to close on 14 April 2026.
Western Cape Education MEC David Maynier has urged families to prioritise submitting their applications before the cut-off date.
“We have made it as easy as possible to apply and made help available to parents who are not able to complete their applications online, so there is no reason not to apply on time,” Maynier said.
He added that parents still have limited time to complete the process before the deadline closes on Tuesday, 14 April 2026.
