Six men and a woman are expected to appear before the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday in connection with allegations of disrupting long-distance bus operations across multiple provinces.
The seven suspects were arrested over the weekend in a coordinated law enforcement operation spanning Cape Town, Matatiele, and Mbombela.
Authorities say the arrests form part of a multidisciplinary investigation that has been ongoing for more than seven years, targeting alleged organised criminal activity linked to the long-distance transport sector.
The accused, aged between 35 and 65, are facing 124 charges, including extortion, intimidation, and the collection of alleged protection fees from bus operators.
The case is expected to proceed in the Cape Town court as investigations continue across the affected provinces.
