Johannesburg – The National Consumer Commission (NCC) has issued a recall of specific batches of 6% Slimsy Pomegranate Squash Concentrate 1L due to potential safety risks.
The recall, initiated by supplier Dynamic Brands Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd, affects products with a best-before date of 14 October 2026. The items were sold between 22 January and 23 March 2026 in KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape and the Free State.
According to the NCC, a total of 2,894 cases equivalent to 17,364 individual bottles are impacted.
The defect relates to bottles that have become blown or swollen due to gas formation. Authorities warn that such bottles could rupture, posing a risk of physical injury, while consuming the product may lead to potential foodborne illness.
NCC head of complaints and investigations, Prudence Moilwa, urged consumers to exercise caution.
“Consumers who have purchased the affected products are urged not to consume them and to return the items to the point of purchase for a full refund,” Moilwa said.
She added that retailers have been instructed to remove all affected stock from shelves to prevent harm.
