Former apartheid police commander Eugene de Kock is currently giving testimony at the ongoing Cradock Four inquest at the Gqeberha High Court in the Eastern Cape.

De Kock has firmly denied any involvement in the planning or execution of the killings of the Cradock Four, stating that he had no role in the operation.

During his testimony, he described how instructions were allegedly received at Vlakplaas and explained how telephone communications were used to obtain information about certain individuals.

The 77-year-old is being questioned by his legal representative, Juan Schoeman, as proceedings continue.

The Cradock Four Fort Calata, Matthew Goniwe, Sparrow Mkhonto and Sicelo Mhlauli were anti-apartheid activists who were abducted and murdered by apartheid police in 1985.

The current proceedings mark the third inquest into their deaths, as families continue to seek clarity and accountability for the killings that remain one of the most significant unresolved cases from the apartheid era.
