The Western Cape Infrastructure Department has announced a temporary closure of the N9–N12 route in the Little Karoo on Wednesday afternoon.
The road will be closed at 14:00 and is expected to reopen at 17:00 to accommodate scheduled blasting operations.
Motorists travelling between Oudtshoorn and George, as well as between Uniondale and George, have been warned to expect traffic delays.
Department spokesperson Jandre Bakker has urged road users to consider alternative routes, including the Robinson Pass, to avoid congestion.
Bakker added that further notifications will be issued for five additional blasting dates as part of ongoing infrastructure work in the region.
