Air travel is gradually restarting in Dubai, with airport authorities confirming a limited resumption of operations after several days of widespread cancellations that left thousands of passengers stranded.

A small number of flights are now operating from Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, also known as Dubai World Central. However, officials have cautioned travellers not to head to the airport unless they have been directly contacted by their airline with a confirmed departure time.

The earlier suspension of all flights disrupted travel plans for thousands, with many passengers forced to remain at terminals or seek alternative arrangements.

State carrier Emirates said it had begun operating a limited schedule on Monday, prioritising customers who had existing bookings. Despite the partial restart, the airline confirmed that the majority of its services to and from Dubai remain temporarily suspended until 3pm UAE time on Tuesday.

“Please do not go to the airport unless you have been notified. All other flights remain suspended until further notice,” the airline said in a statement.

Meanwhile, Qatar Airways announced that its flight operations remain on hold. The carrier said services would only resume once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority declares Qatari airspace safe to reopen.

Further updates from Qatar Airways are expected on Wednesday, 4 March.

Passengers are advised to monitor official airline communications closely, as schedules remain fluid and subject to change.
