Police in the Western Cape are investigating a double murder following a shooting at the Witsand taxi rank in Atlantis.
According to the South African Police Service (SAPS), two men were shot during the incident on Tuesday. One victim was declared dead at the scene, while the second succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.
Police spokesperson FC van Wyk said officers responded to reports of gunfire and, on arrival, discovered the body of a man with multiple gunshot wounds.
A second man, who had also been shot, was rushed to hospital but later died as a result of his injuries.
The case has been handed over to the Taxi Violence Investigation Unit, which specialises in taxi-related crime, to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the attack.
Van Wyk said it remains unclear how many gunmen were involved, and investigations are ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this stage.
