The South African National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has issued a traffic advisory for motorists regarding temporary nighttime closures on the M13 offramp at Paradise Valley. The closures are part of ongoing work to raise the existing bridge vertically as part of the upgraded M13 Paradise Valley Off Ramp bridge over the N3 Highway.
The closures will take place each night from 20:00 to 04:30, starting Thursday, 5 February 2026, and continuing until Wednesday, 18 February 2026. During this period, N3 westbound traffic will remain open, with access to the M13 via the M1 Richmond Road interchange. The M13 eastbound onramp to the N3 (Pinetown to Durban) will remain fully operational.
SANRAL advises trucks and heavy vehicles to delay trips, use alternative routes, or stage appropriately to avoid congestion. Public transport operators are urged to inform drivers of the route changes and alternative paths affecting commuter services.
Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave earlier where possible, and observe all warning signs and reduced speed limits in the construction zones to ensure safety for both road users and workers.
Closure Details:
- N3 Westbound Offramp to M13 at Paradise Valley (Exit 17) fully closed.
- Traffic diverted along N3 Westbound to join M13 via M1 Richmond Road.
- M13 Eastbound onramp to N3 remains open.
SANRAL thanked the public for their patience and cooperation during the essential project aimed at reducing long-term traffic congestion in the area.
