The music career of Stranger Things star Joe Keery is gaining remarkable momentum, with his song End of Beginning climbing to the top of major international charts.
Performing under the stage name Djo, Keery has seen the track reach number one on the UK’s Official Singles Chart, displacing RAYE’s Where Is My Husband! from the top spot. The song has also broken into the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States for the first time.
Adding to its success, End of Beginning has claimed the number one position on Billboard’s Global 200 chart, overtaking Taylor Swift’s The Fate of the Ophelia.
The track originally appeared on Djo’s 2022 album Decide but experienced a resurgence after going viral on TikTok in 2024. It was subsequently released as an official single, propelling it to global recognition.
While the song does not feature in Stranger Things, Keery’s popularity from his role as Steve Harrington is believed to have helped draw attention to his music. The Netflix series concluded with its finale airing on New Year’s Eve, a moment that reignited fan interest in the actor’s broader creative work. Previous seasons of the show have famously sparked chart revivals, including Kate Bush’s 1985 hit Running Up That Hill.
Keery has previously said he uses the name Djo to keep his acting and music careers distinct. Speaking on The Zach Sang Show in 2025, he described the song’s success as largely unexpected.
“Obviously people connected with it,” he said, “but so many strange circumstances have to align for that kind of thing to happen. It’s not something you can plan.”
For Keery, what began as a side project has now become a chart-topping success proof that sometimes lightning really does strike twice.
