The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has urged parents who have not yet secured school placements for their children to approach their nearest district or circuit office for assistance.

The call follows protests earlier this week at Addington Primary School, where frustrated parents gathered outside the school after failing to enrol their children. Some parents also alleged that children of foreign nationals living in the area were being prioritised over their own.

Department spokesperson Muzi Mahlambi said District and Circuit Placement Committees are fully operational and are continuing to process all admission and placement-related enquiries. He added that the committees are responsible for ensuring that learners are placed at schools where space is available.

Mahlambi emphasised that district and circuit offices remain the only official channels for resolving admission and placement issues.

“There is no other place and no other person who will assist in regard to the information regarding admissions or placement,” he said.

The department has reiterated its appeal for parents to follow the established processes to avoid disruptions at schools.
