A KwaMashu family is grappling with grief and pride this week following the release of the 2025 matric results. Their daughter, Wandile Ncube, who passed away last month, achieved a remarkable academic milestone that she will never get to celebrate.
Wandile, a pupil at Zeph Dhlomo High School, earned a Bachelor’s pass with four distinctions, a testament to her hard work and dedication. Her father, Sanele Mvubu, said the family is still coming to terms with the sudden loss.
“She went to bed and didn’t wake up the next morning. She had two sisters and one brother, and they’re still crying. Even when the results came through, she was crying. I was looking forward to celebrating with her, but she passed away. I'm very sad,” Mvubu said.
Despite the heartbreak, her academic achievement offers the family a measure of comfort during this difficult time. Wandile’s success serves as a lasting tribute to her diligence and determination.
