Former Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department chief David Tembe has been found dead at his home, though the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.
Tembe had been serving as an advisor to Johannesburg’s MMC for Public Safety, Mgcini Tshwaku, at the time of his passing.
He previously made headlines in 2020 when former Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane found that he had fraudulently obtained his metropolitan police diploma qualification.
Police are expected to release further details as investigations continue.
