A fresh blast of icy weather is set to grip parts of South Africa this week, with the South African Weather Service forecasting more biting cold from Wednesday as another cold front moves over the country’s south-western regions.

Residents in the Western and Northern Cape are being advised to brace for potentially treacherous conditions, as snowfall is expected over the mountainous areas.

Rudzani Malala, Head of the Disaster Risk Reduction Department at the South African Weather Service, has urged the public to take necessary precautions, warning that the upcoming system could significantly impact travel and daily activities.

“The cold front could bring snow and freezing conditions, especially in high-altitude regions,” Malala said. “Communities should stay informed through official weather updates and be prepared for disruptions.”

This comes as South Africa continues to experience one of its coldest winter spells in recent years.
