A suspect linked to a violent home invasion and attempted murder in Chatsworth is expected to appear in court this week, following his arrest over the weekend.
The incident unfolded on Fleetside Road in Silverglen, where two men reportedly broke into a residence. According to KwaZulu-Natal police, a shootout ensued between the intruders and the homeowner, resulting in the homeowner being shot and injured.
Provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Robert Netshiunda, confirmed the details. “It is reported that two men broke into a house and one of them engaged in a shootout with the owner. The owner was allegedly shot and injured. The suspect fled the scene with home appliances. However, one of them was apprehended by security officers,” he said.
Thanks to the swift response by local security personnel, one of the suspects was caught while attempting to flee with stolen goods. He has since been arrested and is facing multiple criminal charges, including attempted murder and house robbery.
Police are continuing their search for the second suspect, who remains at large. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
