A tragic mass shooting in Tshapile village near eNgcobo has left three people dead and two others injured. The incident occurred on Wednesday night while a group of mourners was preparing for a weekend funeral.
According to initial reports, a group of unknown, heavily armed suspects stormed the gathering and opened fire without warning, leaving a scene of devastation.
Dr. AB Xuma Local Municipality Mayor, Siyabulela Zangqa, has condemned the attack and urged law enforcement to prioritise the investigation.
“I want to express my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and wish those injured a speedy recovery,” said Zangqa. “We appeal to the SAPS to leave no stone unturned and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
The wounded victims are receiving treatment at All Saints Hospital. Police have launched a manhunt, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear. Residents have been urged to remain calm as investigations continue.
