Emotions are running high in Fleurhof, west of Johannesburg, following the tragic death of 11-year-old Jayden Lee Meek, whose body was discovered outside his mother's home.
Jayden had been reported missing on Tuesday after failing to return home from school. His lifeless body was later found dumped in front of their unit at the Swazi’s Place complex.
Police have since opened an inquest docket to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death.
However, outraged residents have taken to the streets in protest, accusing police of failing to respond swiftly when the child was initially reported missing.
“They ignored us when it mattered most,” said one resident, echoing the sentiments of a community demanding accountability.
Demonstrations are expected to continue as the community calls for justice and a thorough investigation into the young boy's death.
