Gautrain services between Park Station and Rosebank are back on track after successful repairs were completed on the affected tunnel. The disruption, caused by illegal drilling on private property, resulted in water and soil seepage, which disrupted operations on this critical route.
The Gauteng Transport Department confirmed that the drilling was unauthorized and had not received approval. The incident led to temporary service suspensions as engineers worked to address the damage and restore normal operations.
Gautrain management has reassured passengers that the tunnel is now fully operational and safe. Additionally, they have confirmed plans to pursue legal action against those responsible for the illegal drilling.
