Mary de Haas, a violence monitoring expert, is calling on cash-in-transit companies to investigate potential information leaks within their operations, as security guards remain prime targets in violent heists.

De Haas points to employees as a key weakness, emphasizing the need for tighter security protocols and confidentiality within the industry.

In a recent incident, two security guards were attacked by armed suspects in Verulam, while earlier this month, robbers blew up a cash van on the N2, resulting in the death of a woman caught in the crossfire. Last December, a similar heist in New Germany left one person dead.

De Haas suggests companies consider changing delivery schedules, particularly avoiding cash deliveries during business hours to reduce the risk of violence and crossfire.
