A man has lost his life in a devastating crash on Edwin Swales Drive in Bluff on Monday morning, after his vehicle became lodged beneath a truck.
ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson confirmed that emergency responders, including the eThekwini Fire Department, worked tirelessly to free the driver and his passenger from the mangled wreckage.
"The light motor vehicle had two occupants, who were found severely entrapped. The eThekwini Fire Department assisted ALS Paramedics in extricating the men," said Jamieson.
Despite their efforts, the driver, a man in his 30s, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
"Unfortunately, paramedics found that the driver had sustained major injuries, and there was nothing more they could do for him. He was declared deceased at the scene," Jamieson added.
The passenger, also in his 30s, sustained critical injuries and was stabilised before being rushed to hospital for further medical care.
The cause of the crash remains unclear, and authorities are investigating.
