The bail application for two men accused of murdering alleged Cape Town underworld kingpin Mark Lifman is set to continue today in the George Magistrate’s Court in the Western Cape.
Lifman, known for his alleged connections to organized crime, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Garden Route Mall on November 3, 2023. At the time of his death, he was facing multiple charges, including murder and racketeering, linked to the killing of steroid smuggler Brian Wainstein in Constantia several years ago.
The suspects, aged 37 and 53, were arrested just hours after the high-profile assassination. Their bail hearing was initially postponed in December to allow their defense attorneys time to consult with them.
The case has drawn significant attention due to Lifman’s controversial reputation and the broader implications for the Cape Town underworld. Authorities are continuing their investigation as the legal proceedings unfold.
