The Class of 2024 is eagerly anticipating the release of their final exam results, with only hours remaining before the announcement. Basic Education Minister Siviwe Gwarube is set to officially unveil the results during an address on Monday evening.

Nearly 900,000 matriculants who participated in the National Senior Certificate (NSC) and Independent Examinations Board (IEB) assessments will be able to access their results starting Tuesday.

The Department of Basic Education recently secured court approval to publish the results in newspapers, following a legal challenge by the Information Regulator. The regulator’s attempt to block publication was dismissed, clearing the way for the traditional release method.

In 2023, matriculants achieved an overall pass rate of 82.9%, setting high expectations for this year’s cohort.

Meanwhile, Vee Gani of the KwaZulu-Natal Parents’ Association emphasized the availability of financial support options for students looking to pursue higher education.

“The economic climate is challenging, and many parents are struggling with the high costs of education. However, students should explore available opportunities,” Gani advised. “Apply for assistance from companies, or seek help from family and friends. Don’t let financial constraints derail your dreams.”

As matriculants await their results, hopes remain high for positive outcomes that will pave the way for future academic and career pursuits.
