The Phoenix community, north of Durban, is in shock after the gruesome murder of a respected Hindu priest. The mutilated body of 59-year-old Lenny Naidoo was discovered in a storage container in Eastbury on Monday, sending waves of devastation through the tight-knit community.
Resident Vanie Govender, deeply affected by the tragedy, described Naidoo as a selfless and loving individual. "My family and I are absolutely shocked and devastated because we were extremely close to him. It was horrifying to see someone so brutally murdered. He was soft, humble, and always willing to help others," she said.
The grim discovery was made by temple devotees, who immediately alerted law enforcement. According to Gareth Naidoo from KZN VIP, medics found that the priest had suffered multiple stab wounds. "Unfortunately, nothing could be done to save his life, and he was declared deceased on the scene. The circumstances leading to this tragic incident remain unclear as investigations continue," he stated.
Police have launched a probe into the murder, while the community mourns the loss of a figure who played a significant role in their spiritual and social lives.
