The 9th annual Mpumalanga Cultural Experience is in full swing in Mbombela, with vibrant parades and performances showcasing the province’s rich cultural heritage. The event, aimed at fostering social cohesion, has brought together participants and spectators from various backgrounds.
Cultural groups have taken to the streets, celebrating their traditions while learning from others. A participant from the Indian Hindu community highlighted the exchange of cultural knowledge, saying, “We want to experience other cultures, and we want other cultures to experience ours. You can see our costumes, dances, and how we dress.”
The festival features a wide range of activities, including music performances, comedy shows, gospel awards, and traditional dances. MEC for Culture, Sport, and Recreation, Leah Mabuza, praised the festival’s growth over the years, noting its ability to attract attendees from neighboring Mozambique and eSwatini.
“It’s exciting to see young people embracing culture so actively. We now have over 40 groups participating from all communities, showcasing a variety of traditions,” Mabuza said.
The Mpumalanga Cultural Experience continues to celebrate diversity and unity, drawing locals and international visitors to its vibrant festivities.
