The lead investigator in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, Bongani Gininda, reiterated in the Pretoria High Court that there is a connection between the late soccer star’s former girlfriend, Kelly Khumalo, and accused number three, Mthobisi Mncube.
Gininda made the statement while being cross-examined by defense counsel Charles Mnisi. He referenced evidence linking Khumalo and Mncube through a photograph found on both their cellphones.
During previous testimony on November 8, Gininda stated that “there was communication between accused 3 and Kelly Khumalo rather than accused 5.” However, under questioning, Gininda clarified his stance, emphasizing that he referred to "linkages" rather than direct communication.
Five men are currently on trial for the 2014 murder of Meyiwa, the former Bafana Bafana captain, in a case that has gripped national attention. The trial continues as cross-examinations and evidence unfold.
