Kavi Naidoo, a resident of eThekwini, has created a water monitoring platform that he believes could help resolve the municipality’s ongoing water challenges.

The system, named “Cascada Sensor,” combines a physical sensor with a mobile app to inform consumers about the status of their water supply. Naidoo describes the platform as both cost-effective and user-friendly.

“What Cascada does is notify you if you have water or not. It tells you when that status changes and allows you to see what’s happening in other areas,” he explains.

The system comprises a sensor installed on a property, a mobile app, and a monthly subscription fee. Naidoo, who resides in Verulam and has experienced frequent water disruptions, initially developed an earlier version of the device for personal use. However, he later expanded the project into Cascada to assist others facing similar challenges.
