A clean-up operation in Durban's Albert Park area has successfully removed at least 100 individuals illegally occupying the space, including both homeless individuals and undocumented migrants. The operation, which commenced in the early hours of Monday morning, involved collaboration between the South African Police Service (SAPS), metro police, and Correctional Services.

This initiative is part of a broader clean-up campaign launched by KZN Premier Thami Ntuli in Mandeni last month. The individuals removed from various parks and buildings in Albert Park were taken to the police station, where they will undergo fingerprint tracing to assess any connections to ongoing criminal activities.

Premier Ntuli reported that, thus far, 15 individuals have been arrested for being in the country illegally. However, police at the scene indicated that many others managed to evade capture by fleeing in different directions. The operation highlights ongoing efforts to address illegal occupation and enhance safety in the area.
