The Iphimbo Labasebenzi Association, a local non-profit organization representing outsourced workers, has called on the Premier of KwaZulu-Natal to address concerns raised by its members about unfair labor practices. The association advocates for security guards and cleaners who are hired through outsourcing and claims that many of its members have experienced exploitation and wrongful dismissals.

Cyril Gcwensa, a spokesperson for the association, stated that they are urging the government to implement policies that would allow outsourced workers to transition into full-time positions. He noted that these workers were previously contracted to provide services for major organizations such as Transnet, South African Airways (SAA), Prasa, and various government departments, including education and health.

In a show of solidarity, the association is planning a march to Premier Thami Ntuli's office next week to voice their grievances. "We are marching to the Premier because we believe he holds the responsibility for these issues and has the authority to make changes," Gcwensa explained. "If our demands are not met following the march, we will proceed to the CCMA to seek a certificate for a strike."
