Police in the Western Cape have apprehended two suspects in connection with the murder of a 64-year-old woman who was fatally shot in Kraaifontein, Cape Town, allegedly over a protection fee. The arrests follow a three-week manhunt.
According to SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, the suspects were captured yesterday on a farm in Klapmuts during a coordinated "takedown" operation. The two individuals, aged 29 and 33, face charges of murder and house robbery.
Pojie noted that extensive leads and information gathered over the past three weeks led to the suspects’ arrest. They were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm linked to a recent house robbery in Kraaifontein. Additional charges may be filed as the investigation progresses.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court once formal charges are brought against them.
