Last night at Coachella, South African vocal group The Joy joined headliner Doja Cat on stage after being specially chosen by her as guests. They sang lead on two of her songs, the recent single "Acknowledge Me" and a reimagined version of "Shutcho" featuring Zulu lyrics.

This significant appearance follows the release of their new single, "You Complete Me," and the announcement of their upcoming self-titled debut album, set for release on June 21 via Transgressive Records. The album, which features no instruments or overdubs, was recorded live at London’s Church Studios and showcases the group's incredible vocal abilities. Members Pastor (Ntokozo Bright Magcaba), Duzie (Melokuhle Mkhungo), Guduza (Sphelele Hlophe), Sthombe (Phelelani Sithole), and Marcus (Sanele Ngcobo) have been singing together since their school days in Hammarsdale, a South African township.

Their video for "You Complete Me" was shot during the live album recording by Up The Game. The group's music, deeply rooted in the Zulu a cappella tradition and reminiscent of Ladysmith Black Mambazo, draws on the powerful Mbube style. They have earned recognition, including winning a significant local singing contest and gaining fans like Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson. After making impactful appearances on U.K. television last summer, The Joy continues to captivate audiences worldwide with their music.
