Loretta Lombard appeared in the Vredenberg Magistrate's Court on Monday morning, facing charges of kidnapping and human trafficking.

Prosecutors stated that a confession led to the 32-year-old's arrest over the weekend. 'The State opposes your release at this stage and seeks to gather bail information before making a decision. Your matter is postponed until 25 March for bail information. You will remain in custody until then,' the magistrate said.

Meanwhile, the search for the missing girl continues. The Grade 1 learner disappeared from her home in the Middelpos informal settlement almost a month ago.

Last week, three individuals, including the child’s mother, appeared in court. Kelly Smith, Jacquen Appollis, and Steveno van Rhyn waived their right to bail and will remain in custody until their next court appearance.

Police announced that more individuals were brought in for questioning as part of the investigation.
