Saiyaara Release Postpones Upcoming Bolly Films
The phenomenal success of the recently released Saiyaara has led to a scheduling adjustment in the film industry. Two highly anticipated movies, initially set for release this weekend have been postponed to August 2025. 📆📯
Son of Sardaar 2 - starring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, will now hit cinemas on 1 August 2025. 🎬🍿
Param Sundari- starring Janhvi Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra (who recently welcomed a baby girl with Kiara Advani) is set to release on 29 August 2025. 🎬🍿
As scheduled Kiara Advani's new movie War 2 alongside Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR will be released in celebration of Independence day in August 2025 and the trailer drops in on Friday 25 July 2025. 🇮🇳🫡

Shravan Month: A Time of Devotion, Discipline and Divine Blessings in South Africa
The sacred month of Shravan (or Sawan) is one of the most spiritually significant periods in the Hindu calendar and is especially cherished by devotees of Lord Shiva. Falling between July and August, Shravan is marked by prayer, fasting, and reflection—and holds a special place in the hearts of Hindus across South Africa, particularly within the vibrant temple communities of Durban, Johannesburg, and Cape Town.
Why Do We Celebrate Shravan?
Shravan is dedicated to Lord Shiva, known as the god of transformation and destruction in the Hindu Trinity. According to Hindu scriptures, during the Samudra Manthan (the great churning of the ocean), a dangerous poison emerged that could destroy all life. Lord Shiva, in his boundless compassion, drank this poison to save the universe—holding it in his throat, which turned blue, earning him the name Neelkanth.
This act of sacrifice and protection is believed to have happened during the month of Shravan. As a result, devotees dedicate this time to worshipping and honouring Shiva for his grace, strength, and selflessness.
How Is Shravan Observed in South Africa?
Hindus in South Africa observe Shravan with deep devotion, balancing traditional customs with local practices:
🕉️ Shravan Somwar Fasts
Mondays during Shravan (called Shravan Somwar) are especially auspicious. Many South African devotees observe half-day or full-day fasts, consuming only fruit or simple vegetarian meals. Special Shiva Abhishekams (ritual bathing of the Shiva lingam) are held at temples, with offerings of milk, water, bael leaves, and incense.
🛕 Temple Services and Bhajans
Temples across the country—especially in KwaZulu-Natal, home to the largest Indian population in SA—host special weekly services, often culminating in grand Rudra Abhishekams, bhajan sessions, and discourses on Shiva. Devotees gather with their families to chant “Om Namah Shivaya” and immerse themselves in the uplifting atmosphere of prayer.
🙏 Spiritual Discipline
Many refrain from eating meat, drinking alcohol, or consuming onions and garlic during the month, choosing instead to focus on spiritual discipline and purity of mind and body. Youth groups and satsang societies also use the time to organise charity drives, food donations, and spiritual discussions.
🌍 Cultural Significance in SA
Though the Kanwar Yatra (pilgrimage with Ganga water) isn’t practiced here the same way it is in India, some temples hold symbolic events and water-offering ceremonies to connect local devotees with the broader tradition. South Africans of Indian origin blend their ancestral rituals with the realities of modern life, creating a beautiful harmony of tradition and community spirit.
